Transient Impulsion (TI™)
The TI™ method checks the uplift of a fully detached rock block with the transient pressures in the open joints around it.
- transient pressures in the open joints under and around the block, computed with the same water-hammer solver as the TFM™ method
- net force on the block in time from the pressures on all its faces and its submerged weight
- resulting block displacement computed step by step
- block ejected when its rise exceeds a critical fraction of its height
- complements the MDI and MQSI uplift methods
- available in the 2D and 3D DFN rock mass models
